Three Levels of Graduation

Year 1 - Semesters 1 & 2

Diploma in Information Technology

Australian Pathway

Seamless Progression to Higher Studies

Students will receive guidance on postgraduate education opportunities after completing their degree, including assistance selecting a suitable Master of Information Technology program, preparing applications, and exploring international pathways.

High-performing graduates may be considered for postgraduate scholarship support to apply for a Master of IT program in Australia.

Scholarship and admission decisions remain subject to the academic, English-language, financial and other requirements of the relevant university. Participation does not guarantee admission, a scholarship, a student visa or migration outcomes.

Eligibility

Admission Pathways

The UCSC BIT program offers multiple entries, catering to high-school graduates as well as working professionals looking to pivot to technology fields.

G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Entry

Direct admission pathway for candidates with national or international secondary education qualifications:

  • Three passes in Local G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination in one sitting.
  • Three "C" passes in Cambridge/Pearson Edexcel International A/L Examination in one sitting.
  • G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) with at least 6 passes, including credits for English and Mathematics.

Alternative Pathway (FIT)

For candidates who do not possess G.C.E. A/L qualifications but wish to secure entry into the degree program:

  • Possess G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) with passes in Mathematics and English.
  • Successfully complete the **Foundation in Information Technology (FIT)** conducted by UCSC.

What is the duration of the UCSC BIT program?
The Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) is structured as a 3-year external degree. It consists of 3 levels, with each level spanning two semesters. However, you can study at your own pace, with the option to complete individual diplomas if you choose not to complete the entire three years at once.
Can I register for BIT without G.C.E. A/L passes?
Yes! If you do not have G.C.E. Advanced Level passes, you can qualify for the BIT degree by passing the Foundation in Information Technology (FIT) examinations conducted directly by UCSC. Please note that UGK Cooperation does not provide tuition or courses for the FIT foundation program; we offer tutoring and academic support exclusively for the 3-year UCSC BIT degree program.
How are examinations conducted?
UCSC conducts examinations twice a year for the respective semesters. The exams consist of written papers (held at examination halls in Colombo and other selected regions) and practical examinations (conducted at UCSC laboratory facilities).
Is the degree globally recognized for higher studies?
